Mangalore, Oct 19: Blessings and inauguration of Cordel open air auditorium, renovation of Frad Saib hall and ruby jubilee celebration of the priestly ordination of Fr Valerian Pinto were held on Saturday, October 18 at Holy Cross Church, Kulshekar in Mangalore.
Fr Valerian Pinto the parish priest of Cordel celebrated his ruby jubilee of priestly ordination by cutting the cake. The dignitaries on the dias felicitated the jubilee celebrating priest.
Addressing the gathering, Fr. Valerian Pinto remembered his childhood days and also his days as a priest and thanked his family and friends for everything.
“Do not take revenge on any one. Let God himself handle your matter. God is everything to us and we should listen to him. My duty is to pray to God and let others pray.” said Fr. Pinto during his address.
Bishop of Mangalore, Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza inaugurated the new Cordel open air auditorium and Monsignor Dennis Moras Prabhu inaugurated the renovated Frad Saib hall.
Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, in his presidential address said, “A priest cannot be for himself, he is for the people, he is for God. Fr Valerian is one of God’s men. God has sent him to help those who are in need of help. A priest surrenders his entire life to the people of God. Fr. Valerian Pinto has lived his life for people.”
Senior lawyer M P Noronha, in his speech he said, “A priest provides a path for the people who want to go in a way where there is no sin. There will be a peaceful environment wherever there is a priest. Fr. Valerian is a role model to everyone.”
M P Noronha also released the book ‘Bhavadtacho Divo’ on this occasion which contains wishes and messages for Fr Valerian Pinto.
Fr Dennis Prabhu addressing the gathering said, “Today’s day is prepared by God and we should thank him. No man lives for himself, he lives for others. He dies for others.”
Fr George D’Souza also spoke on this occasion and sponsors were felicitated.
Sushil Noronha, convener of jubilee celebration committee, Praveen Patrao, vice president and Michael D’Souza, secretary of parish council, Fr. Anil A Lobo, assistant parish priest, Fr. Vishal Monis and others were present during the ceremony.
