Panaji, Oct 19 (TNN): Passenger screening for Ebola virus began at Dabolim airport on Saturday. Six doctors and eight nurses have been deputed from Goa Medical College (GMC) and Hospital, Bambolim, to the airport, health minister Laxmikant Parsekar said. "There will be round-the-clock screening by the team who will work in rotation," he told TOI.
He stressed there is no cause for alarm and the government is fully geared to cope with any eventuality. "Being a tourist state, we are not taking any chances and we are trying to do our best," he said, adding that if any case is detected in Goa, the person will be shifted to the isolation ward at GMC. Besides the ward, necessary drugs, doctors and medical staff have been arranged, he said. He said the state is in touch with the health ministry over the Ebola situation.
