Mangalore, Oct 17: Activists of Bajrang Dal lead by Jagadish Shenava of Vishwa Hindu Parishad thronged the Kavoor police station to protest against the alleged assault against outfit's activist Charan and demanded immediate suspension of the police inspector Umesh Kumar.

"Eventhough Assistant Sub Inspector of Kavoor station filed an FIR against the inspector in connection to the assault on our youth, the department has not kept him under suspension," argued Jagadish, VHP district president, who directed the Dal members to be stationed and raise slogans till the evening hours. However the police allowed the protesters to intensify and continue the protest creating a strategic deadlock over the issue.

The Dal activists arrived in the morning hours to the station and fused chaos for over ten minutes dismantling the barricades placed as a protection bar for the station. Later Jagadish demanded the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Pandeshwar division, Ravikumar to suspend the inspector to facilitate unbiased probe into the matter. The unrest in front of the police station also caused traffic disruption as the protesters sat on the road linking Derebail and Kavoor.

It could be observed that the activists raised slogans that contained abusive words and racist remarks. In spite of provocative slogans, the police resorted to the strategy of remaining silent, rendering tough time to the patience of the activists.

Jagadish, speaking to the press told the police was reeling under pressure and not suspending the accused inspector. There was no need to beat up Charan as the case was dealt by the court and warrant was issued by the court. He told the Dal would intensify the protest and would sit before the station till justice was meted out.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police Vishnuvardhan said that the investigations were conducted by Moodbidri police Inspector Anantha Padmanabha and claimed no action could be taken against the accused inspector until the investigation report was ready. When asked about the continued stalemate in the case, he told the police would advance talks with the Hindu outfit to reslove.

The activists said that they would stage a dharna again tommorrow on Saturday October 18 in the same place if the officer was not suspended and would further intensify their anguish calling a one-day bundh within Kavoor station limits in the coming days.
