Supreme Court grants bail to Jayalalithaa

Daijiworld Media Network

New Delhi, Oct 17 : AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa was on Friday granted bail by the Supreme Court in the disproportionate assets case. Jayalalithaa’s party workers had been waiting with bated breath as the Supreme court took up the bail plea of the former Tamil Nadu chief minister, who is lodged in Bangalore jail.

Jayalalithaa has been granted the bail on the foundation day of AIADMK.

Jayalalithaa had moved the Supreme Court after the Karnataka High Court refused her bail plea saying corruption is like human rights violation.

The Karnataka high court had on September 27 held Jayalalithaa guilty of corruption and amassing wealth inappropriate to her known source of income.

What a travesty of justice! One more example of this - in India if you have money and power, there are no rules to keep you behind bars. Is there any hope or future for this country and we the people who happen to be her citizens? I am disgusted with this corrupt system. My patriotism of which I was so proud during my younger days is slowly but surely deserting me. What a pity this country has been reduced to this state by our greedy and corrupt politicians.

Let us talk about the Issue, not the Person on either side.
Here the issue is Corruption. All of our developmental plans have failed to yield the result. After Sixty Seven years of independence, still we are titled “Developing Nation” not “Developed Nation”. Where the effort and money has gone? Tax Payers money has gone in to wrong pockets .This great art of Conversion of Public money in to personnel asset is called “Corruption” and Corruption is Mother of all Sin.
Coming to Swamy, a whistle blower, my personal opinion, at least he is doing a bit, compared to us, just commenting on this forum. So definitely he does not deserve hate from us, if not liking.
Coming to this particular case, in this instance, he has not opposed the bail vehemently.
The reason is Simple. He didn’t want Jaya to Milk the imprisonment, to her Political advantage. The Tiger under captivity will attract more audience.
His calculations may be not to offer a slightest chance to her for garnering Public sympathy and convert in to votes in election which is 18 months ahead.
Having said that, I agree there are BIG SINNERS moving free around who looted this country. Let’s hope they all will be put behind bar and at least our coming generation will be benefitted.

It is so ridiculous to grant interim bail to this corrupt chief minister of Tamil Nadu, popularly known as Amma.Shame on Indian judiciary.Law and order only for the normal citizen not for politicians and elite people. If this trend is continued everybody will be involved in corruption, murder, robbery, rape, sexual abuse and other so called anti-social activities.Such individual should not be granted bail under any condition, whoever she/he may be and should be hanged.Only because of leniency in our judiciary system people are enjoy doing all such anti-social activities without any fear. They know very well that they will be freed on bail and roam freely on the road without bowing to anybody. If any convicted person fall sick, they should be treated inside the cell, not allow them to go out of the jail and grant bail.
Shame on Ram jethmalani, well known lawyer defending corrupt Jayalalitha,CM of Tamil Nadu and thereby encouraging corruption.

Lower courts conduct trials of the case. In supreme trial is not conducted. Supreme Court decides whether the decision taken by the lower court is proper or not. In some cases they send back the case to the lower court fresh trial of the case if they find that the earlier trial is not proper. Remember The Tamil Nadu High Court had earlier acquitted Jaylalitha in the same case, when Jaylalitha had came back to power (Case was filed against her and others during DMK government). Against which Subramanya Swamy had filed petition before Supreme Court citing high handedness of Jaylalitha Government. Hence Supreme Court had shifted the case to Special Court in Karnataka which has now convicted her. Here Supreme Court has just given bail to her till the decision the High court gives final judgement. Giving bail doesnt mean that she is aquitted of all charges.
