Mangalore, Oct 20: The government's decision to withhold grants to 49 aided colleges has invited flak from the Federation of University and College Teachers Association of Karnataka (FUCTAK).
In a press release from the association on Thursday October 19, FUCTAK president A M Narahari and general secretary Dr B S Makal termed the move as senseless and stated that the decision would adversely affect more than 2000 employees.
They alleged that the decision was taken without consulting the chief ministers, minister for higher education and the cabinet ministers.
Earlier the government had decided to withdraw grant-in-aid to these colleges as they had obtained less than B grade from National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
The federation will meet the chief minister and the minister for higher education to discuss the issue, the release said.
