Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (RJP)

Mangalore, Oct 16: A group of several mobile distributors have been cheated to the tune of Rs. 40 lakhs by two dealers in Mangalore.

Babulal and Arjun from Rajasthan are the dealers accused of cheating. Gurudath Kamath and others are the complainants.
Gurudath has been supplying Gionee and Micromax mobile phones to Mayur enterprises belonging to Babulal and Arjun situated at City Tower on Maidan Road for the past 4 months. For two months, the dealers paid cash for the mobile phones they bought. After that they switched to cheques as the mode of payment.

Now a cheque given by them for the amount of Rs.2, 38,000 has been dishonoured by the bank. Later when Gurudath went to approach them for the same, he was shocked to discover that the shop Mayur enterprises was closed. The efforts to reach the dealers by phone have been futile as their mobile phones are switched off.

It is learnt that friends of Gurudath namely Ranjith from Shree Enterprises, K B Ravi from Estra Life solutions, Rakesh Shettty from Padma Enterprises, Richard Rasquina from Arvis Agencies, Jeevan from Greens enterprises also have been cheated in similar way by the same duo. The total amount owed to this group of distributors is around Rs.40 lakhs by initial estimates.

Bunder police have registered the case.

This news says that Babulal & Arjun are from Rajasthan. But some people in the market are telling that both are Gujaratis. Police may clarify this as the South Indians always confuse between Rajastanis & Gujaratis.
