Kundapur, Oct 16: The fisheries department on Wednesday has banned the fishing of cuttlefish and shark in Gangolli area.
The ban has been enforced with immediate effect. 8 anchored boats and 2 visiting boats were told to leave immediately. The managers of boats were told to give in writing that they would not engage in fishing in the area. These boats had the registration from the neighbouring states.
As per the latest reports, no outside fishing boats were spotted in the vicinity of Gangolli area since the announcement, which makes it very clear that the message has reached the intended people.
Daijiworld had reported about the displeasure of fishermen regarding the appearance of boats from other states. These boats were mainly engaged in the fishing of cuttlefish and shark which had ruined the local prospects. Same type of ban was enforced in Malpe years back.
Congratulation to Gangolli/Malpi peoples. But i can't understand the policy of our Indian fisheries that you cannot do the fishing in your own country, but you can go to the neighbouring country and do the fishing.
states of india have complete control overcommerce that takes place in thier land and also water except for defending the states which come under central govt.
