The inspection took place at Adi Udupi market yard on Wednesday October 15.

In a sudden inspection, the officer who visited Adi Udupi market yard also warned the merchants that each of them should posses a licence while trading. Surprise inspection is not at all the solution for this kind of issues. It is no doubt that they will repeat the things 3 or 4 days after inspection. So I request the Food Safety Officer to educate the people who deals with the food. They need to know the harmful effects of adulteration. They need to know some FSSAI rules and regulations and also safety measures.

    Thank you
    Food Technologist.

There should be online complain system for complaining about these people. Not just market, even hotels have to be raided. Most of the food especially chapathis are half boiled. If I tell the supplier and the owner about this they reply "you are the only person who has complained about this" no one has any problem except you. This reply is very common in almost all the hotels in Mangalore and Udupi, bcoz most of the people are silent victims. They dont dare to speak.

Good move by the Food safety department but it should not be restricted only to Adi Udupi market yard, this should be conducted everywhere periodically. This kind of adulteration is rampant everywhere by the traders, manufacturers at the cost of general public health for their greed for money. This surprise checks/raids to be carried out everywhere and fraudsters should be heavily penalized. Some of the well known companies are also involved in this trade.Such companies should be closed for ever without any leniency.Nowadays for the sake of money anything can happen.Even murder is not spared. Once the production of such inferior, low quality products, items are stopped or banned completely, such kind of activities can be minimized to certain extent.Hope concerned authorities will kindly take note of this and act decisively.

There are hundred sellers and one manufacturer, why can't you raid the manufacturer instead, such as cigarette, liquors, plastic, endosulphon etc., first ban production of these items, then only there will be no sellers for these items.
