Mangalore: Police warn public about door-to-door salespersons

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (RJP)

Mangalore, Oct 15: Police have warned the public about the fake salespersons who are visiting houses either to buy or sell sarees as well as various goods. They may not be genuine dealers as you think.

While thefts are regularly reported throughout the twin districts, Suratkal and Ullal areas have become more prone to crime as Daijiworld reported few days back. In addition to breaking in of houses, it has been now learnt that some fake dealers have been visiting houses with the pretext of selling goods. Either they come to loot there and then or they are informers to the thieves who steal later.

The Suratkal area has seen some saree dealers this week visiting houses. One particular saree dealer tells that he is collecting silk sarees and offering Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 3,000 per piece. Some have conclusively learned that he is a fake dealer.

These fake dealers may not just always come as saree dealers. They can change their profession to suit the situation, saying they are gas stove repairers, goldsmiths etc.

The police have warned the public to be alert.

Though looting is a crime, but taking lives of inmates along with the loot is not pardonable at all. Example the recent burglary and killing of a Mescom engineer at his house in the city.

Thanks to the Police authorities for alerting the public on the potential danger lying behind the visits of fake sales personnel.

People having coconut tree in their own compound or neighbors compound which is leaning towards the terrace is very dangerous as the thieves always climb by this coconut tree and jump to the terrace and gain entry from terrace. Such trees should be cut. Neighbors should cooperate in cutting such trees which facilitate thieves to enter adjacent terrace.
