Mumbai, Oct 14: The 35th anniversary of Kala Jagathu Mumbai, a well-known organization in the country, was held at T Radhabai Bhandary hall of Bantara Bhavan at Kurla East on Saturday October 11.
In a programme, presided over by Kala Jagathu president Thonse Vijayakumar Shetty, Jagathika Bantara Okkoota vice-president Aikala Harish Shetty inaugurated ‘Kalajagathu Rangotsava 2014’, by lighting the traditional lamp.
Ajith Rai Pade was the chief guest. Well-known social worker, businessman Shama N Shetty, Aikala Harish Shetty, G Vivek Shetty, Anand Shetty Thonse, Manjunath Bannur, Bhaskar Shetty, Vashi, Anand Shetty Ekkar, journalist Chandrashekar Palethady, medical officer Dr Sadananda Shetty, Sion, artiste Francis Fernandes, Cascia, police official Prakash B Bhandary, and Ashok Purohit were the guests of honour.
In the felicitation and award presentation segment, the organization’s 'Krishi Harish Shetty Ermal Award’ consisting of Rs 50,000 was presented to film and drama actor and convener of Kalajagathu Saregamapa division Harish Shetty. ‘Kalajagathu Kala Prashasthi 2014 Manorama N B Shetty Award’ consisting of Rs 25,000 was awarded to artiste Manjunatha Shettigar.
‘Kala Jagathu Annual Talent Award 2014’ was awarded to drama artiste Satish Shetty Kaup. ‘Kemmannu Late Gopala Krishna Rao Memorial Award 2014’ was awarded to Yakshagana child artiste Apeksha Kamath Shetty, and ‘Sugandi Raju Shetty Mundkooru Angadiguthu Memorial Award’ was awarded to child artiste Anwith Kumar Shetty.
As part of the cultural programme, Tulukoota Dombivli troupe presented ‘Oriye Mage Oriye’ Tulu drama and Kala Jagathu Theater troupe presented Kannada award-winning drama ‘Gubbachi’.
Vice-president Laxmana G Kanchan, secretary Krishnaraj Shetty and Chandravathi Devadiga, treasurer Raghuveer Bhat, joint secretary N Prathviraj Mundkooru, joint treasurer Mundkooru Ashok Shetty, vice-president Jagadish Rao, and convener Prabhakar Shetty were present.
Kala Jagathu executive president Surendra Kumar Hegde welcomed and gave the keynote address. Dayasagar Chowta compered the programme and proposed the vote of thanks.
