MCC to widen, develop 22 roads in city

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (RJP)

Mangalore, Oct 14: The Mangalore City Corporation has decided to widen and develop 22 roads within the city limits.

There have been complaints from public for a long time regarding the state of roads, especially during traffic congestions which happen on a daily basis. Measures taken by the authorities concerned have not solved the problems completely. It is very clear and obvious that Mangalore needs better roads and a better traffic management.

The MCC which was contemplating on the issue, has now come up with a plan for better roads in the city.

The corporation has provided a list of 22 roads which will either be developed or widened soon.

1. Kavoor Junction to Kavoor Mahalingeshwara temple
2. Maryhill junction to Bondel junction (Footpath and rainwater drainage)
3. Yeyyadi to Shakthinagar concrete road
4. Derebail Konchady to Mullakadu
5. Kuntikana fires station to Barebail-Yeyyadi concrete road
6. Urwa store to Ashoknagar Urwa market
7. Circuit house to Padua high school (Kadri park road)
8. Padua high school to Sharbath Katte road
9. Kalpane Kulshekar to Shakthinagar (On the highway)
10. City hospital to Pinto lane (Through Kadri Kambla)
11. Maroli Suryanarayana temple road
12. Bunts hostel to PVS junction
13. PVS junction to KSRTC, Lalbagh, a six lane road
14. Navabharath circle to Beasant School (Sharada Vidyalaya road)
15. KS Rao Road
16. New Balmatta Road (Jyothi to Ivory junction)
17. Milagres junction to Mangalore Central Railway Station
18. Nandigudda to Mangalore Central Railway Station
19. Sturrock road (Avery junction to Anand Shetty circle)
20. S L Mathias Road (Casa Grande to Highland junction)
21. Falnir Road (Avery junction to Kankanady circle)

1.Congress ruled Mangalore Corporation can never complete this project
2.22 road development plan- too ambitious for this corporation
3.First clear all the basements of commercial complex for parking
4.Ban road side parking. 50% of traffic congestion is solved.
5.2 years of Congress rule- they did not even move a stone, another 3 years, 22 roads?
They did not allow one busy road to convert it to one-way, How will they improve our traffic problem?
The best what they will do is, asphalt these 22 roads, nothing more than that and blame all other for the rest.

I think few Corporators need new Cars to their spouse. MCC has a Committee called Standing Committee. This one does not move at all. They should call it a moving committee so we can see little movement.
They are planning new projects while old projects are still half done. There is no more money left to swindle so these new ones will create new Avenue for Junior Engineers for percentage. Ripoff.. of Public Money. ADB loves MCC and JRL. Hooray.

Serious thoughts and urgent attention is required in improving the road from Mangaladevi to Morgan's Gate junction (Via Bhagini Samaja), Morgan's Gate Junction to Muger Juction (National Highway) via Railway Crossing with underpass or Fly Over through the Railway Level Crossing. This level crossing at regular intervals leads to lots of traffic blocks and chaos in traffic movement.
This road is the easiest entry and exit point between Mangalore City and Tokkot-Konaje/Talapady-Kasaragod and no attention is given for the improvement. Authorities should observe the road during the peak hours to understand the real problem

MCC does not have good planners. They have built a market in Jeppu recently which is yet to open. There is no parking space at all. Is this market meant for only pedestrians?????

First let MCC take action and demolish the shops which were meant for car parking in all commercial buildings in Mangalore. If that was done earlier it would have eased many problems.

The idea about widening roads is to ensure that there is free and better flow of traffic. While doing this one must take into account the way the vehicles are driven. It is a very common sight to observe two wheelers and three wheelers breaking all rules and overtaking from the left and parallel parking by buses and stopping by the buses at non-designated halts are among the flaws that need to corrected. That apart, it is extremely necessary that proper foot-paths are made for the pedestrians to walk along.

MCC why are you fooling the people of Mangalore. Just have a ride from Bondel Church to Vamanjoor. See the plight of the road. The corporator of that area has gone Under ground. CM of Karnataka Mr. Sidhu had to go to Pilikula and he was taken by Volvo Bus so that he should not feel the Bumps and should not notice the plight of the roads. Its high time the MLA & the corporator should wake up from the sleep and do the needful

who is MCC fooling ?? , just giving some sense less statements will not be sufficient.

is there any planning ? are you ready to pay fair amount of compensations to the families who's land you will acquire// what are you gonna do about the trees and katte's ? after you're so called " 6 lane road" where are people suppose to walk ? service roads ? foot paths ? have your even heard of terms ? .. what about parking facilities ? what about the useless flyovers the one like in Kulshekar which does not make any sense .. it was a total useless project , hardly any vehicles pass there , and next to that you idiots have allotted that stupid service road , drunkards from prashanth wines directly fall on the road , plus the humps and the pot holes.

MCC , Please get your act straight. Dont just fool people

    Rightly said.

I heard that when Fr. Muller's road leading to Valencia was required to be widened (years back) and trees were to be removed, some activists intertwined (protested) and made a big issue out of it.
With widening of the roads, they must think of building few fly-overs in the city where maximum traffic congestion takes place, especial at peak our like school timings.

Which is this Kankanadi Railway Station (Nagori) road. Is it widening of existing round about road? If yes, then it is useless.
What happened to short-cut to Kanakanadi Railway Station near Garodi ? In this existing short cut road only one auto-riksha can pass at a time. This road requires widening very badly. Of course it may require acquiring of many houses bordering this road, but it may be inevitable in the larger interest of general public.

Also the road from Fr. Mullers to Jeppu needs footpaths and some 'Speed breakers'.

I am sure the MLC Mr. Ivan Dsouza who resides in this area is paying attention to this matter.

Also, The footpath space from Fr. Mullers - Nandigudda is filled with illegal vendors selling everything from footwear, 'muddy' sugar cane juice, "unhygienic" Chinese food to dust covered fruits on encroached footpath space...slowly this stretch is on the verge of becoming another congested Bunder.

    Looks very Good.

PVS junction to KSRTC, Lalbagh, a six lane road - Is it feasible?!

In my opinion to accomplish this dream surely may land in Court for years.

Bunts hostel to PVS junction is most important.

There is a Katte and a Ashoka Tree inbetween the Road which halted free vehicle movements. This must be uprooted for the free movement of vehicles.

During bjp rule this was halted by some KUTHANTHRIES.

Agenda to favour real estaters. The nantoor-kadri road is in worse state than shiradi, this shows how much Mayor, MLA who belong to this area are real concerned about motorists who have lost their lives at this spot. The list doesn't mention this road.
