Tight' security: Public rescues drunken cop from ditch!

Daijiworld Media Network – Puttur (RJP)

Puttur, Oct 14: A policeman in an inebriated state fell into a ditch and suffered injuries in Salethoor near Vittal.

The name of the policeman is Lokesh. He was a member of the platoon of Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) deployed at Salethoor. The reserve police force had come from Mangalore as part of a SSF programme to maintain law and order.

Lokesh had attended the duty on Sunday. After finishing his duty he went to a bar and got drunk. And then while on his way to see his colleagues, he fell into the ditch near the bar. The public who saw him resting in the ditch came to his help and got him admitted to the hospital. The policeman is said to have sustained injuries.

It is not known yet as to how long the drunken policeman was resting in the ditch. There are various opinions on that. But there is no dispute over the fact that his drunkenness sent him to the ditch and the public had to rescue him.

ok man, he drank after the duty hours but there are lots of people who drink (drunk) and drive.

Hopefully, he would take this as a lesson and next time he will take the bottle home and follow the safety measures.

Siddaramayya was a ABAKARI sachiva when he was with deve gowda!! hah.. his saraai bhagya has given some cops relief, while he is sleeping!!

actually, we need to understand the cops life also.. he cant take a leave.. they r understaffed and crimes happen everywhere.. if they become strict with some thieves, there is political pressure to release them! their life is hell.. they get beaten by agitators first.. they save politicans from peoples mad anger and mob culture... the "citizen to cop ratio is dismal"... they work in extreme conditions.. and god forbid they do some genuine encounters, they r suspended... if they take a bribe, there is cut till the top level!... their life is living hell.. we need a overhaul of police force, but its a state subject! change their uniform, first!.. give them something like NYPD... ( a black pant, white shirt with a overcoat or Navy Blue cloth).. let them also feel they have white collared job!! this Khaakee should be thrown away, it reminds of colonial system...! -) ...but oikla siddaramanne nidred lakkode..

The duty of a policeman is not so easy (especially for an elder person)as he needs to sacrifice his personal life working for late hours at odd time. During the process of performing his duty, he will loose emotional attachment with his family & will just remain as a source of money for the family.
Finally alcohol becomes his long lasting friend who helps him to forget the ugly reality of life at least for some period of time..

it is not his fault, why kept open ditch near the 'bar'?
district admin should take action immediately and punish the guilty.

It is sad that those who are supposed to be role models to others can become drunkards. While he has a right to drink, getting drunk brings down the standard of the police force. He should be put in a remote place or sent to rehabilitation centre. Alcoholism is a sickness that can be overcome.
