Udupi, Oct 12: A woman, who had attempted suicide last month, has now filed a case against her in-laws saying the harassment by them prompted her to attempt suicide, here on Sunday, October 12.
Divya Joyis from Shirva, wife of Divakar Joyis is the complainant in this case.
On September 8, Divya with her son Dheeraj aged 4 jumped into Pavanje River near Mulky. The woman was saved by onlookers while the child could not be saved. The Mulky police later had registered a case against the woman on the charges of suicide attempt.
Now after a month the case has taken a new twist with the suicide survivor lodging a case against her brother-in-law Ramanath Joyis and his wife Malathi Joyis for harassment. She has told the police that because of the persistent harassment, she wanted to end her life.
Shirva police have registered the case and investigations have started.
