Dubai, Oct 12: Daiji Dubai, the forum of Konkani writers in Dubai, continued their mission of development of Konkani literature by presenting twin programmes on Friday October 10 at Zomorrodah Party Hall in Karama Dubai.

About 50 preregistered participants attended the story writing session conducted by noted Konkani writer Stan Ageira. Fr Charles Vas from Mumbai, Robert Michael D’Sa, promoter of Macys Restaurant, and Joseph Mathias, owner of Merit Freight, inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp. Rony Byndoor, convener, Daiji Dubai, welcomed the gathering and highlighted that the need of the hour was for every writer to undergo the constant process of improvement. Fr Vas appealed to the writers to spread the message of love and benevolence to the world and appreciated Daiji Dubai’s historical presence in this part of the world.

Once the reins were handed over to Ageira, he took the session to a whole new level. The complex topic of literature sounded very simple when he covered the different aspects of story writing. The story construction right from plot to characterization, theme, setting, narrative, interaction, treatment, control, and climax, were demonstrated through a power point presentation. The participants responded well by raising relevant questions and stimulating a healthy discussion. The dramatic art of exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and denouement were explained with examples of different type of stories.

The afternoon session began with a welcome address by founder member and former convener Dayan D’Souza. He emphasized the essence of laughter in our life and how it brings an overall change to human personality while reducing stress. New artistes were given a chance to perform with seasoned artistes. Nanu Marol Thottam, Anil Prakash D’Souza Mudarangadi, Antony Tony Mendonca, Prema Rodrigues, Robert Udyavar, Melvyn D’Souza Bajjodi, and Dayan D’Souza Mukamar entertained the gathering and left everyone in splits. They were adequately compensated by gifts given by Stany Pinto.

Young writer Stany Bela compered the morning session while Sunita Menezes and Pradeep Paladka amused the gathering through their hosting of the humour session.
