"Modi govt's honeymoon with voters shortest ever"

Panaji, Oct 12 (IANS): The honeymoon of the Narendra Modi-led government with the country's voters is on the verge of ending, AAP national secretary Panjak Gupta told the media here adding that it was the shortest ever electoral honeymoon.

Gupta was in Goa to take stock of party affairs and rejuvenate the Aam Aadmi Party's cadre.

He said that in the run up to the 2014 Lok Sabha election Modi mesmerized people into believing that he was the only alternative, but the contrasting reality was slowly beginning to sink in.

"People now say that perhaps this is the first government whose honeymoon period is going to be over so shortly. In the sense that people have started believing now that what they voted for is not the reality. Reality is far from truth and far from what is actually being projected," Gupta told reporters.

"The other reason could be that Modiji really created an impression among people, we should not underestimate that... he created an impression in the minds of people that he was the only one who could run the government or create a government," Gupta said, when asked about the allegedly none-too-flattering media coverage of AAP.

The AAP leader was however hopeful, saying that since the myth of Modi's invincibility had begun to crack, there would eventually be a "realisation in various stakeholders of this country that a lot more needs to be shown (in media coverage)".
