Mangalore: Police arrest three persons for assault on video editor

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (RJP)

Mangalore, Oct 11: Police have arrested three persons in connection with the assault on a video editor.
The arrested persons are Amir from Thokkottu, Aslam from Attavar and Jalil from Kudroli.

The video editor Raghavendra Achar (38) was attacked and assaulted at Kunil complex in Kankanady on Tuesday October 7 for talking to a girl from another community.

A group of around 10 men had barged into the shop where the victim worked as a video editor and vandalized the place, destroying the computers and looting cash from the shop. The men also allegedly threatened to kill the victim after assaulting him.

The reason of the assault was that a girl belonging to another community had come to write a CD to the shop which these men did not like. Raghavendra was asked to stop talking to girls from the other community.

Raghavendra Achar was admitted to government hospital after the assault.

In addition to the police complaint, South Kanara Photographers Association, Mangalore had sent a petition to Police Commissioner in this regard. The police have said that more arrests will be made soon based on the recent information.

    Mukulu poora chaddi paadante ith ragale na? ) if someone is doing illegal, I am told, we r supposed to contact the cops and register a case and not try moral policing! Hope this suits them!!

    btw, few years back, there was a doctor in Mangaore.. very famous and also a relative to infamous politician from Pune!! (yes neevu hesaru TRY-MAADI, aaj maadi athava kal-maadi) ... heard he was misbehaving with women patient and had molested gullible patients!! and later one day few of the women from other community quite deservingly went and slit his throat.. case khallass!!!) I appreciated those women taking bold steps!! cos in that time, such cases were unheard of.. with money muscle and political clout, that famous doctor would have probably escaped the noose of law... and God had other plan of punishing... similarly , if Video editor was misbehaving, those girls should have taken this man to task!! I side with justice!!

    Mangalore is a center for religious extremism-both Hindu and Muslim. Whereas, on the one hand, you have a lot of narrow minded Brahmins and Tulu speaking people, on the other, you have Muslims. It is now wonder that these kinds of incidents happen there. Attempts must be made to break down the walls of the caste system in this place, as well as reduce religious fundamentalism and extremism.

    No worry about protests from the communal forces because both victim n assaulter belonged to same community.
    Also number of comments expected to be very less.

    @Suleman Beary,
    What do you mean? why boys allowed to talk other girls, in which world and which century you are in? When the people working together, studying together they are not talking each other? And this incident is customer-shopkeeper conversation. According to you, one community girl cannot go to other community doctor for consultation, also there will not be any kind of business in between two communities. good ideology.

    Immoral policing from either community is wrong.
    Some are wondering why not many comments = prejudiced!
    Simple answer is when dog bites a man its not a big news item but when man bites a dog then its TRP value enhancer!
