Margao, Oct 16:  Goan Melody Queen Lorna thrilled the people of Fatarpa, 20 km from here last week, by singing her all-time favorite songs at the Silver Jubilee celebration of “N Jal’', a local drink.

Along with her, Bollywood actress Varsha Usgaonkar also sang the great Konkani songs of poet Bakibab Borkar and poet Soiru Varde, with her dancing performance as well. Bollywood and Hollywood actor Milind Gunaji, the brand ambassador of the drink,  was also present as a special invitee.

 

Lorna sang Goans' favourite song ‘Tambde Roza’, ‘Piso’, and many more 'contaram', which made people to dance to her tunes.
 
Local singers Sonia Shirsat and Bindiya Vast also sang on the occasion.


 

 Govind Desai, now a well-established businessman from Fatarpa village, started his soft drink business in 1981  with a bank loan and partly with money borrowed from a friend.

His is a success story of self-employment. He started his business from nothing and now has his network of marketing soft drinks in Karnataka and Maharashtra, besides all across Goa. He is known as master of local drink in Goa.

Lok Sabha members Shripad Naik and Churchill Alemao, education minister Luizinho Faleiro, PWD minister Sudin Dhavlikar and local MLA Babu Kavlekar were among present on the occasion.

Lorna was felicitated at the hands of actress Varsha Usgaonkar.
