Mangalore, Oct 9: Police Commissioner R Hitendra has revealed that a cyber crime police station will start operating from Mangalore soon.
The Director General of CID has approved the police station which will function under the CID department.
There are six police zones in Karnataka. Every zone in the state will have one cyber crime police station. As Mangalore is the head quarters of the western zone, the cyber crime police station for the zone will be stationed in the city. The Traffic ACP office premises near circuit house will house the proposed cyber police station.
The staff in the initial stage will be recruited on contract basis. The cyber crime police station is specialised in dealing with complaints related to cyber crimes. CID police will assist in investigations.
