Mangalore, Oct 13: Father Muller Charitable Institutions had mourned the sudden death of Dr V V Mody in Ahmedabad on October 7.

The late Dr V V Mody

A meeting to condole his death and pray for the repose of this noble soul will be held in the Academy Hall of the Institutions at 3-30 pm on Saturday, October 14.

Dr Mody joined Father Muller's on November 1, 1955 as chief physician of the hospital and later his wife Dr  Jasumati V Mody  joined him as a Paediatrician of the Hospital.  That was the time when the then director Fr Marian Fernandes upgraded the hospital by introducing different disciplines like Surgery, Medicine, Gyneocology and Psychiatry all as independent  units.

Even though Bombay or any other Metropolitan city in India could have offered him better prospects, he chose to remain with Father Muller's.   He retired from active service as a Physician in 1999 on completion of his 75th birthday but continued to admit and treat patients in Father Muller's till his last breath.

As a Chief Physician of the Hospital, he always upheld the highest traditions of this Institution and became a household name for his dedication, treatment and diagnosis and love for his patients.
