Bhatkal: Eid celebrated with traditional fervour and enthusiasm

Bhatkal, Oct 5: The feast of sacrifice Eid Al-Adha was celebrated with traditional fervour and enthusiasm, here on Sunday October 5.

The celebration will continue for the next three-and-a-half days.

The procession started at 7am from the Jamia Masjid and passed through the main roads of the town and reached Idgah. Maulana Abdul Bari Nadvi, principle of Jamia Islamia and Imam, Khateeb of Jamia Masjid, led the Eid prayer which was attended by thousands of Muslims.

After the prayers, Maulana delivered the sermon in Arabic which was translated in Urdu.

He spoke about the significance of the religious ritual and the obligation of Muslims towards it. Maulana said that Muslims should follow the way of Islam and practice it in their life.

He further said that complete peace can be obtained following the teachings of the Prophet Mohammad. He also described the incident of Prophet Ibrahim and explained the origins of Eid.

He requested people to maintain peace and harmony in the town. He prayed for world peace, unity among Muslim nations and progress for the people and for the country's prosperity on the festive occasion.

Bhatkal DySP M muthuraj, Bhatkal CPI Prashanth Naik, Honnawar CPI, Manjunath Gowda, among others were present on the occasion.

Maulana Iqbal Mulla Nadvi, chief Qazi Jamaatul Muslimeen, Moulana Khaja Madani Qazi Khaleefa Jamaath Ul Muslimeen Bhatkal, Maulana Abdul Aleem Qasimi, Maulana Abdul Azeem Qazia Nadvi, S M Abdul Azeem president of the procession were present.

The police made necessary security arrangements for the peaceful celebration of Eid.
