Mangalore, Oct 3: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign launched on Thursday to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti in a meaningful way was observed across the city.
Those who had not yet wielded the broom rushed to streets to clean the city.
One should pause for a moment and ask this question ‘has Mangalore really benefited the drive and got cleaned through this campaign?’
A reality check organized by Daijiworld gives you complete details about the cleaning programme organized on Thursday October 2.
Several people thronged to the streets and began to clean the city to mark the ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign. Much more than cleaning the city, people loved posing for photographs and TV cameras. This was the effect of PM’s call in city to clean India.
MPs, MLAs and political leaders including those who have not yet wielded the broom in their lifetime were seen cleaning the streets on October 2.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel cleaned outside the BJP office in the morning but failed to witness the heap of garbage near the BJP District office which lies between the KSR Road and PVS. The trash of heap was lying there from the past 15 days and the City Corporation failed to realize this.
This is the similar problem to many parts of the city. The condition remains the same in Hamapankatte too which is also the heart of the city. Nobody comes forward to question the situation.
The condition remains the same even in front of the SP office. Though the campaign was organized, the trash remains unmoved. Instead, cleaning takes place for the sake of photographs.
If one pledges to clean one’s home and surrounding every day, the dreams of PM Narendra Modi will surly come true.
