Udupi, Oct 11: The sports meet of primary school students of Padubidri region was inaugurated at St Mary's Grounds at Shirva near here on Monday October 9.
The sports meet was organized by Don Bosco English Medium School, Shirva in association with public education department.
The meet was inaugurated by Fr Valerian Pinto, parish priest of Shirva on Tuesday morning. Shirva gram panchayat president Lily Monis presided over the inaugural function and D Manjunathayya, BEO hoisted the flag on the occasion. ZP member Jerald Fernandes and taluk panchayat member Rita Mathias were also present on the occasion.
Oswald D'Souza Pernal, Fr Ediwin Correa, Shirva postmaster Narayana Rao, Felix 'Souza and Xavier D'Souza were the guests at the inaugural function.
More than 400 students from 34 schools participated in the sports meet.
