Bangalore, Oct 3: Karnataka politicians had to say more on Modi than on Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary yesterday. And it is not that they had anything good to say about Modi.
The Karnataka politicians chose to speak less on the Mahatma. Instead they criticised Modi heavily. The reason was very obvious. The implementation of Prime Minister’s Swachch Bharat Abhiyan and its nationwide publicity.
The firing brigade included CM Siddaramaiah, former ministers Mallikarjun Kharge, Veerappa Moily, and KPCC chief Dr. G Parameshwara.
Siddaramaiah wanted to know the relationship between Modi and Sardar Patel. At one point he even said that he did not want to learn about Gandhi from his killers.
Kharge said that all the current policies of Modi government belonged to the Congress and Modi has been trying to get publicity from them.
“Only Congress had made sure that Gandhi’s name is remembered. Modi is notorious for talking. If he gets absolute power, he will even overtake Hitler. Cleaning India drive is not new to us. We have been cleaning slums for years. It is very unfortunate that we have to learn from the people whom we taught. Modi has bought the media. Only way to teach him lesson is by going to every house” Kharge said.
Veerappa Moily criticized the foreign policies of the Modi government.
“Modi has forgotten that he is the representative of India. He is shaking the strong foundation of foreign policies laid by the Congress government. His statements in Japan about China were provocative. If such thing continues, a worse situation than Kargil can happen” Moily said.
“One day BJP will claim that even the rice given by the Congress was given by them. Why the BJP keeps on telling that the government in Karnataka has not taken off while the government is not a rocket to take off.” Dr. Parameshwara said.
Ivan D’souza in Mangalore claimed that the clean India drive is a Congress brainchild.
All the above came on the birth anniversary of one of greatest men to walk on earth.
They talked either anti Modi or anti BJP, but carefully chose to keep away Gandhi in their speeches.
