Udupi, Oct 11: Former Lokayukta Justice Venkatachala was bestowed with the prestigious Shivram Karanth Award given by Kotathattu gram panchayat at Shambhavi Vidyadayini higher primary school at Giliyar near Kota here on Tuesday October 10.  The award was presented by State Third Finance Commission chairman A G Kodgi.

Speaking on the occasion, Justice Venkatachala urged all to imbibe the values that were practiced by Dr Shivram Karanth during his lifetime.  "Persons of Karanth's calibre walk on this earth once in thousands years.  He was an all rounder, a man of great courage both in his writings as well as personality," said he.

Noted Kannada writer Na D'Souza who delivered the Karanth Memorial lecture highlighted the virtuous life of Dr Shivram Karanth and said that he is still the perfect role model to all.

The programme was presided over by Kotathattu GP president Prabhakar Kanchan while businessman Anand Kunder was the chief guest.  Janardhan Maravante delivered the introductory note.

Kota Srinivas Poojary welcomed the gathering while Narendra Kumar compered the programme.
