Bantwal, Oct 2: The accused in the Sangabettu, Siddakatte molestation case has been re arrested by police after the public protested against his release.

The molestation was reported yesterday by Daijiworld. The arrested person Sirajuddin (27) son of Abbas from Sangabettu was let out on interim bail and was enjoying freedom only after two days of committing the alleged crime of molesting.
The victim was a first year degree student of a Bantwal college. Sirajuddin had also threatened the victim of dire consequences if she revealed about the incident.

Even before the first arrest was made at Kasba, the people in large numbers had gathered at the police station demanding Sirajuddin’s arrest. Petitions were also submitted to Tahasildar and police department.

Now again people had to protest for the re arrest. The crowd was bigger this time.

Upon learning that Sirajuddin was released on interim bail, the traders in Siddakatte closed their shops voluntarily in silent protest on Wednesday morning. Auto rickshaws too joined them by stopping their vehicles. A large crowd of thousands including the students gathered later to protest about the release of the accused. B Nagaraj Shetty, former minister also attended the protest among many BJP leaders and workers.

Going by the demand from the public, the police re arrested the accused to be produced in court again. The court remanded the accused to judicial custody for 15 days.

The crowd also manhandled a person who was filming the protest in his mobile phone only to be saved by the police. A large number of police force had to be deployed during the protest.

Good show of strength n solidarity by students n people....indian criminal law isso weak culprits donot care about it n such laws never discourage them..legal fraternity should not fight for defense cases of rape n molestation...if they r convinced that charges are true n accused is guilty...now sirajuddin behind bars...forever....go to hell..

The incident taking political milage. Law enforcing agencies like Police should follow ' books' not MOBOCRACY. Only vested interests will benefit here. Any minor offence with less than 4 years imprisonment is bailable.

Why Pakistan? Is it a joke you are making here? Or are you out of your mind? Dont act too smart. Think before you make a rubbish comment. I agree the sick guy has done the biggest crime, he deserves harsh punishment for his act. But why Pakistan? who are they and why do you compare Muslims with Paki's? We hate Paki's more than anybody else. Never make such a comment.

This is atrocious!..is there no accountability?.Courts graning bail for sexual offenders even under POCSO?..The accused had threatened the victim and this is really a dangerous trend that almost eveyone is released on bail compromising investigantion and safety of the victim.

The law should take it's own course and creating law and order problem brings no solution to anybody. This gathering seems to be motive behind rather than merit of the case.Police was forced to re arrest the culprit!!!Sanghis are looking for opportunities to create some sort of divide!!
