Panaji, Oct 6: The Congress leaders in Goa have resolved to recommend to the high command to sever ties with the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak party (MGP), a coalition partner in the Pratapsingh Rane government.

"The Goa Pradesh Congress committee and congress legislative party meeting has resolved to recommend to the high command to severe ties with the MGP and drop its lone member Sudin Dhavlikar from state cabinet," GPCC president Ravi Naik told reporters here.

Delegation of congress leaders were to visit Delhi in October 5 to meet the high command the present the resolution, Naik said.

The meeting was attended by a majority of Congress leaders including chief minister Pratapsingh Rane. "It was unanimous resolution and there will be no repercussion on the government or the party organization because of it," the GPCC chief said.

Naik said that MGP minister Dhavlikar, holding public works department portfolio, has failed to adhere to "coalition dharma" and was discouraging Congress workers who used to approach him for developmental works.

"Being in government he had decided candidates against the Congress leaders for the ensuing state legislative assembly elections… He was building his party organization at the cost of government and Congress," Naik stated justifying the resolution.
