Bangalore, Sep 26: It has been learnt that the state government is considering rejecting the church attack report of Justice B K Somashekar Commission, as recommended by the state law department.
The reasons for the recommendations are the contradictions in the report. The interim report by the Commission had said that Sangh Parivar elements had a role to play in the organised church attacks. But the final report which was submitted to the government in 2011 gave a clean chit to the then ruling party BJP and its affiliate Sangh Parivar.
The series of attacks on the churches and prayer houses had taken place in the month of September 2008. The Commission was constituted with the mandate to probe these attacks.
The state government recently had decided to seek law department’s opinion on the issue. The department now is understood to have recommended to the government to reject the report for the contradictions in it.
The attacks had happened during BJP’s tenure only after 4 months of coming to power when B S Yeddyurappa was the chief minister.
