Mangalore, Sep 25: The Mangalore Bar Association inaugurated its new office at the district court complex in Court Hill here on Thursday September 25.

The inauguration was done by Uma M G, principal district and sessions judge.

Addressing the gathering she said, "The association was started in 1881 and this is its 133rd year. From many years the lawyers were facing shortage of essential facilities and space, but still they did their work with humility.

"I would like to salute the women lawyers who were suffering the most due to lack of facilities. Now I am happy to see there is a seperate room for women advocates. A big challenge of constructing Mangalore Bar Association's own building lies ahead, and I hope it will happen within 2 years."

Deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim said, "Mangalore Bar Association has produced a number of successful advocates for the country. This shifting to new premises will be useful for the lawyers here in improving their quality of work. It is a moment of pride for all of us. The government is ready to help in any upcoming projects that would help to improve the quality of the Mangalore Bar Association."

B B Ravindranath Rai, vice-chairman of Karnataka Bar Council, MLC Ivan D'souza, Mangalore Bar Association president P Ashok Arigam, general secretary B Vittal Rai and members of Mangalore Bar Association were present during the occasion.

No use of all this arrangements. Lawyers Police, public people have lost faith in these people. I have a lawyer in my own family. They are corrupt people. India has the highest backlog of court cases in the world. IT will take nearly 400 yrs to clear all pending backlogs at the rate at which cases are dealt with as per a latest survey! Justice delayed is justice denied!
