Incheon, Sep 25 (IANS): The Indian women's squash team were assured of at least a bronze as they qualified for the semi-final after topping Group B at the 17th Asian Games here Thursday.
India beat China 3-0 in their final group match at the Yeorumul Squash Courts. Joshna Chinappa, Anaka Alankamony and Dipika Pallikal all won their respective singles matches to help the team register their third win in a row and top the standings.
Joshna set the ball rolling for India, thrashing Jinyue Gu 3-0 (11-5, 11-7, 11-8) to provide a 1-0 lead, which doubled after Anaka beat Chen Xiu 3-0 (12-10, 11-7, 11-8) in the second rubber.
In the final match, Dipika, who won individual singles bronze earlier, dropped the first game 6-11 to Dongjin Li before finding form to win the next three games 11-6, 11-5, 11-5, making it 3-0 for India.
The semi-final will take place Friday.
