Karkala, Oct 4: The students of the late Subraya Kamat Memorial ZP higher primary school, Pulkeri near here staged dharna near here protesting against the sudden transfer of their head mistress Benedicta Mathias on Tuesday October 3.
The parents of the students and the people from the surrounding villages too joined them in the protest. They blamed the concerned authorities for caving in under the political pressure exercised by some local politicians for their own motives.
"The deputy director had recently visited the school and it has been proved to then that Benedicta Mathias is innocent. She has been trapped by some men in power to meet their selfish motives. We know our teacher well than anyone else. Therefore the transfer order should immediately be withdrawn," they said.
An appeal was later handed over to BEO Ramappa Gowda. School development and in-charge committee members Raghu, Raju, Vanitha, Pushpa, GP member Dinesh Shetty, John D'Souza and others were present during the protest.
