Bantwal, Sep 25: The Bantwal police led by ASP Rahul Kumar on Wednesday September 24 night seized nine trucks that were transporting sand illegally.

The trucks were seized near Melkar.

Based on credible information that sand would be illegally transported from Mangalore to Bangalore, the ASP and his team conducted inspection of vehicles on Wednesday night and seized the trucks.

It is learnt that though the police had received information about 30 trucks transporting sand illegally, they managed to seize only nine. Suspecting that the remaining trucks might have been diverted to other routes to avoid inspection, ASP Rahul Kumar proceeded towards Farangipet and conducted the operation there too, sources said.

Circle inspector Beliappa, Bantwal town police SI Nanda Kumar, rural police SI Nagaraj, Vittal police SI Raghavendra T R and other police personnel were part of the operation.

Does not matter how honest Rahul Kumar is. There are Corrupt Elected officials are in Bantwal. Mr Rahul is like standing tall tree. All others around Him are like branches of the tree. They give shadow to Sand Mafia rogues. When all these branches grow in one side of tree,it looses balance and breaks or falls. So all these corrupt branches force Corrupt Elected Ministers who is another branch of Corruption, gets Honest Official kicked out. This is Karnataka

He will be transferred. He is still immature as to how to survive in the Police Dept. Kundapura SI Sathish Poojary was transferred to KArnataka Lokayukta in MAngloor since he closed down bars forcibly after the said time and put cases against them. Halady Srinivas shetty transferred him to Mangloor since he dint agree to withdraw the cases against bar owner.

Sand belongs to People as its a natural resource.
Government only should collect some amount per truck load to get it legal.
The cost of collection, loading & transport is borne by consumers, as such government shouldn't ban somethings to get kickbacks through illegal activities which pushes control departments to corruption.
The Price should be based on TRUE cost per acquisition than creating artificial scarcity to help sand mafia.
