Mangalore: Christmas Food Fiesta for a good cause launched

Mangalore, Sep 24: Christmas Food Fiesta-2014, a food competition and fancy fete organized by Catholic Sabha Pradesh episcopal city deanery was launched at Bishop's House here on Wednesday September 24.

The competition is fund-raiser which would help in building houses for 10 poor families.

Addressing the gathering chief guest Roy Castelino, president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy said, "It is nice to see the foresightedness of Anil Lobo; even though Christmas is more than two months away, preparation have begun right now.

"It is not easy to collect around Rs 30 lac for the construction of houses for 10 poor families. I wish them all success in the good work they have planned for the poor and may God bless them with strength to build more houses in the coming days."

Fr J B Crasta, spiritual director, said, "This Christmas will be special for us as we are working for a good cause to help the poor build houses and also help them celebrate the festival like everyone else. This is not any one person's efforts, all need to work together as a team and make it a success."

The lucky coupons were inaugurated by chief guest Roy Castelino and other guests on the dias.

Lucky coupon books were distributed to presidents of episcopal city varado parish units.

President of Episcopal city Varado Anil Lobo gave a floral welcome to the guest.

Dolphy Saldanna compered the programme and Flora Castelino, secretary delivered the vote of thanks.
