Mangalore, Sep 24: An attempt to murder the brother of a BJP leader was reported at Vamanjoor here on Wednesday September 24.
Santosh Kottary (31), on whom the murder attempt was made, is the brother of Rajesh Kottary of BJP.
Santosh has been admitted to a hospital and is said to be out of danger.
It is learnt that Santosh had been to a hotel to buy a parcel for lunch. On the way back, two persons came by bike and allegedly attacked him with a sharp weapon and fled the spot.
Sources said that the attack was carried out by Pavan (20), son of notorious rowdy sheeter Vamanjoor Rohi who was murdered in 2009. He was reportedly accompanied by another person identified as Arif.
Pavan was suspended from St Raymond's PU college after he threatened his teacher with a knife last year, sources said.
Santosh Kottary works as a contractor, and is presently working on the construction of an ex-corporator's house at Vamanjoor. He is an active BJP member. His brother Rajesh Kottary is the general secretery of BJP Mangalore north constituency.
Sources said that Santosh had been involved in Rohi's murder.
A case has been registered in Mangalore rural police station.
