Sullia, Sep 23: A person who was on a marriage spree was stopped from getting married for the fifth time. And it was the wedding day when that happened.
The bridegroom is Moidu Kunhi, son of Abdulla from Badiadka Nekkare in Kasargod taluk.
He had come with three of his people looking for a bride to a house in Kanakamajal Sunnamule near Sullia, a fortnight back. Later the bride’s family even went to the bridegroom’s house and were happy about him.
The bridegroom had demanded Rs 2 lac and 80 grams of gold jewellery as dowry and he had already received Rs 1.8 lac advance. The situation was so tough for the bride’s family that they had managed to buy necessary things for the wedding only a day before. It was very difficult for them to raise money as they lived in poverty.
On the wedding day on Monday September 22, the bride’s family had arranged a reception for 400 people. But much before that, the bride’s people discovered that Moidu was married four times in the past.
The bridegroom was not served with any special food prepared for the wedding. Instead the gathered invitees gave him blows. The ‘treatment’ by so many people was too much to handle for Moidu. Needless to add, the wedding was called off.
