GMC Hospitals in Ajman, Sharjah, Fujairah conduct free health camps

Ajman, Sep, 22: Gulf Medical College Hospital and Research Center (GMC Hospitals) created health awareness through the free mega health camps held simultaneously in all its hospitals in Ajman, Sharjah and Fujairah on Sunday September 21 from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.

“More than 6500 people thronged the hospitals, most of them came from labor camps and industries in Ajman, Sharjah, RAK, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain,” said Akbar Moideen Thumbay, Director Healthcare Operations of Thumbay Group.

The camp was inaugurated in GMC Hospital Ajman by professor Gita Ashok Raj, Provost of Gulf Medical University.

A team of specialist doctors, consultants, nurses and volunteers conducted free consultations and checkups in Cardiology, Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Gynecology, Pediatrics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Dermatology, Family Medicine, Urology, Nephrology, Gastroenterology and Dental specialties.

In addition to this, free Blood Pressure checkup, Blood Sugar checkup and BMI checkups were carried out to create awareness about diabetes and hypertension which has a high incidence in the region. The visitors were also offered free medicines besides the 50% discount on laboratory and radiology (X-ray, CT, Ultrasound and so on) investigations. Patients can avail the follow-up check-ups for free during the next 15 days. As part of the hospital promotion, free medicines, informative brochures and health packages were distributed to the visitors.

“This is our annual event, which is organized to create awareness on various health issues. We always get overwhelming response for our Free Health Camps,” said Akbar Moideen Thumbay. The camp has generated lot of interest amongst the people and have helped more than 6500 people, which was a record till date. A lot of families also came to the camp.

GMC Hospital Fujairah:
HE Suhail al Qadi, chairman Red Crescent Society Fujairah inaugurated the camp. More than 2200 people visited GMC Hospital Fujairah. “We have witnessed a distinct increase in Surgery, Orthopedics and Ophthalmology cases in this camp,” informed Dr Manish Singhal, hospital administrator. Thumbay Pharmacy distributed free medicines worth over Dhs. 20000.

GMC Hospital and Dental Specialty Center Sharjah has seen over 1100 patients. Majority of the cases were in Ophthalmology, Orthopedics and Dentistry. Company executives and families attended the camp. Being a specialized teaching hospital, our students too have benefited from the camp. They have seen more than 350 dental patients, said the hospital administrator Dr Sameer.

Free mega health camp exclusively for pregnant women to be held on October 9

“Owing to the needs of the society and based on our study during the previous camps, GMC Hospitals in Ajman, Sharjah and Fujairah will hold a Free Mega Health Camp exclusively for pregnant women on October 9,” informed Akbar Moideen Thumbay. “Those who register on the day, irrespective of their stage of pregnancy, will get special discounted delivery package,” he said.

People can avail of this offer from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm. Highly experienced doctors and experts from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology will conduct a free consultation and checkup for pregnant woman.

“We would like to continue with these camps and offer high quality, affordable healthcare through all our hospitals. I wish to thank our entire team, especially our doctors, who spared no effort to provide complete healthcare services to the people,” he concluded.
