Mangalore: Clashes erupt at University College - Eight arrested, one hospitalized

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (DV)

Mangalore, Sep 20: Eight students were arrested and one was hospitalized after clashes erupted at University College, Hampankatta here on Saturday September 20.

Though the exact issue that led to clashes between two groups in college was not known, police sources said that it happened after some boys eve-teased a girl.

In the clashes that ensued, one student, identified as Deekshith, was badly injured and admitted to Wenlock hospital.

Both the groups filed complaints against each other in Pandeshwar police station, after which FIR was lodged against 10 persons. Eight of the accused were arrested.

Some of the students involved in the clash were identified as Asfad, Riyaz, Diyaz and Chetan, said sources.

During the clash, some of the students misbehaved with the media and reportedly snatched a camera. Later, after the principal intervened, they apologized to the media persons.

ABVP attacking minority youths in college campus it is common nowadays in all college by background support by BD Communal goondaas, If minority students react for self defense than BD, SRS and other communal goondaas are attacking out side, Same like recent incident of Pumpwell. All Student Union should protest against this crime.... We are Indians and all Indians are brothers & Sisters Unity is strength.

    3. Disagree and agree both are required in life. But few are doing it for the sake of doing it. Once our friend Jossey made a comment where he corrected some error in his previous comment. That too was "disagreed" by few guys. Does it mean, one does not have the right to correct his own error? I lost belief in agree/disagree by DW readers..
