Bangalore: Kumaraswamy's son all set to become leading man of Sandalwood

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Sep 18: If sources are to be believed, Nikhil Gowda, son of former Karnataka chief minister and JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy, is all set to appear as leading man in a Kannada movie that is expected to hit the silver screen shortly. Perhaps, taking a cue from the sliding fortunes of his grandfather and father in politics, Nikhil wants to test the waters in an altogether new field, acting in films, although his family had forayed into film distribution and production in the past.

There is information that shooting for a new film that will be made with considerably high budget with Nikhil in lead, will shortly begin. The film will be made under the banner of Kumaraswamy's 'Chennambika Films', it is learnt. A search is on for choosing a suitable leading lady for the film. Reliable sources said in all probability, this film will be directed either by Madesh, who shot to fame with his movie, 'Power', or veteran director, K V Raju.

Sources added that efforts are being made to ensure that the script for the film will conform to tastes of both class and masses. In addition, there is a possibility of producing the remake of a Telugu super hit film under the above banner. Proposal to remake hit films of Telugu superstars, Mahesh Babu, Junior NTR, Allu Arjun, Ramcharan or Prabhas is also being actively considered, it is learnt.

There is also a plan to invite suitable title for the film from movie buffs and choose one of the names suggested by the public. Kumaraswamy, who has the experience of producing films, it is said, has already held two rounds of talks with some directors on the possibility of producing a film with Nikhil in the lead. Before entering politics, Kumaraswamy had distributed films, and produced some of them. As per plans, the process will gain momentum after Vijayadashami, Muhurat may be held during Deepavali, and the movie may be released by Sankranti festival in January, it is said.

There are many who swear by the ambitious plan of Kumaraswamy to introduce his son into filmdom and use that popularity to make him a hero in political field. It is said that while Kumaraswamy wants his son to become popular star both in films and politics, his wife, Anita, had nursed an ambition to see her son becoming a leading businessman by providing a dynamic leadership to Kasturi TV channel owned by the family. Nikhil had got involved with managing electioneering during the recent election. He also has been discharging some responsibility in Kasturi TV channel as of now.
