Mangalore, Sep 27: Tipu Sultan is hitting the headlines these days for various reasons. While a group of society is busy portraying him as traitor, another group is rallying around him. But an overall study makes it quite clear that Tipu has been dragged into controversy to gain political mileage. Meanwhile some organizations which are being promoted by a particular party are running from pillar to post to fix pro-Tipu people as traitors.
This was proved very much true here on Wednesday September 27 when Sri Ram Sene staged protest demanding deportation K M Masood, president of State Minority Commission. The Sri Ram Sene activists led by Arun Kumar Puttila protested in front of the bus stand here and demanded the government to dissolve the minority commission as well.
The reasons are very simple. K M Masood had written a letter to the chief minister criticizing higher education minister D H Shankarmurthy for issuing anti-Tipu statements. This letter has now become centre of controversy.
Sri Ram Sene claimed that K M Masood is anti-Kannada and should be deported for treason. "Though the medium of any communication in the state is Kannada, K M Masood has written the letter in English. He is a traitor and hence he should be deported from Karnataka. He has been given cabinet minister rank and has been provided with car, security. This is nothing but doing injustice to the Hindus," they said.
There are more poor people among Hindus than in minority communities. "But there is no separate commission for them, whereas minorities have been given a commission. This is partiality done to suppress the Hindus. If there is no commission for Hindus, then, it should not be for anyone else," they opined.
This argument seems to have paved way for another controversy and Sri Ram Sene is trying to attack the minority communities using the Tipu controversy, said a local while speaking to this correspondent.
