Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Sep 17: A man from Krishnapura, who was unable to bear the agony of getting separated from his son, chose to end his life. It is said that Peter D'Souza (64) was distressed about the fact that his eldest son, who had secured a job in a foreign country, was leaving him for good.

Peter was a resident of Krishnapura fifth block. He resides with his children. On Tuesday, his eldest son was to leave his native place to take up employment abroad. On Monday night, Peter consumed some insecticide found in the house and fell sick. He was rushed to a hospital immediately. The doctors tried to save his life by providing all necessary medications and care.

These efforts went futile, and Peter breathed his last on Tuesday. Suratkal police visited the house and recorded details.

Couldn't understand your words= You have to go back to school probably in North.
Anyway, I know loving your children is your duty=Many people don't understand/ready to do the duty towards their kids.. That is only reason why.. today's society is sooo BAD, there is no medication from Law enforcement because medication has to come from parents..

It is indeed a very sad episode that a father should end his life because his son had to go abroad to work. My wife and I have experienced this kind of separations three times when our children left us to go to U.S.A. We had to take this parting in our strides. Once when I was going through the trauma of separation, my friend Francis Colaco very nicely put across to me.. that when fledglings develop wings they have to fly away. This comparison touched me very much and both my wife and I reconciled to the sad separations.

In this case I wish Peter had some one like Francis to council him .. This tragedy could have been averted.

My thoughts and condolences go to the members of the bereaved family.

    I totally disagree with you.
Mr.Peter was very humble and he has totally scarified his life for the sake of his kids, itz all about true love and affection towards kids, such parents are true parents.
I know personally.. both parents left the all kids in India with somebody and stayed in Gulf for almost 10 years and even now mother not even boddered about kids to settle them in life as they are almost in 50’s.. how do you justify this acts?.

I feel Pity for Mr. Peter, let his Soul Rest in Peace.. he is true example for Love of Ocean.

    Ms. Wilma,
Couldn't understand your words, anyway, I know loving your children is your duty. But not letting them settle down is not, there are so mNy who cry their children are not responsible enough, they are not suiciding, when children are ready to go and struggle abroad why discourage.

May the Soul of the deceased Peter rest in peace. He shouldnt have done so.Instead he could have asked him or their relatives about this and talked about the matter to solve the Problem.Anyway I find there was more behind this than we know.May be there was some Problem in Family where son was helping him to stay together. Now son is going he thought of no future.we dont know.through his decision he made more Problems to son.son must be Feeling guilty because he left, father is dead.my heartfelt sympathy to the Family.

I understand parents love towards their kids.Once they become adults don't interfere in their personal life.we have to learn a lesson from the birds once they get the wings they leave their mother and take their own flight.

Irene I completely agree with you, but humans are selfish they make children to fulfil their selfish needs when they grow old. Animals are selfless they don't expect anything in return. Please disagree with me as those that does are selfish people. But just give it a thought ................. You will realise.

what a sad turn of events, imagine his state of mind when he committed this act. wish he could have confided in someone. brought tears to my eyes, love can do anything. if only he had used it positively and seen his son grow.

There is a difference between the older generation and the younger generation and their thinking, one is bit rigid and other one with varies!!! 'May his soul rest in peace'.

    Peter, RIP.
When people kill themselves, they think, they are ending the pain. But, all they are doing is passing it on to those they leave behind.

    Very sad indeed.
This is the third death related news I am going through from morning in this forum.
We cannot justify nor criticize the sad incident. Father should have acted in a matured way for his age and considering other necessities of life in this world.

You do not get such loving fathers these days.Peter's luck seems to have run out.His father however should have not have done this.Where does all this leave Peter now?

I stand corrected Dear Declan. Thank you.
Peter should never have done this.
Where does this now leave his son whom he loved so much?
In any case you never get such 'loving and caring' fathers nowadays. God bless his soul.

I know the father's love, but the father should have thought of his son's future, should have wished his son all the best and blessing. What was the need in ending his life?...
