Bangalore, Sep 16: Anti-corruption activist T J Abraham submitted documentary evidence against the alleged land scam by the BJP government in the State headed by the then chief minister Jagadish Shettar, who is the present opposition leader in the Karnataka assembly, causing a loss of at least Rs 63.35 crore to the State exchequer to chief minister Siddaramaiah and demanded a CBI inquiry.
Abraham, who is also heading the Federation of Catholics and Christians Associations (FKCCA), urged the chief minister to institute the CBI inquiry into the alleged purchase of a piece of land by the previous BJP Government and causing a loss of Rs 63.35 crore to the State exchequer in 2012.
Jagadish Shettar was the Chief Minister when the prime land in the Gandhinagarlocality in Bangalore was purchased for the construction of a building for the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB).
The anti-corruption activist met the Chief Minster at the latter’s home office "Krishna" and handed over all land related documents to him.
Abraham on Monday alleged that the Law Department and KIADB in its report opposed the purchase of alleged disputed land belonged to the Murugharajendra Swami of Bruhan Math in Chitradurga.
A Cabinet meeting presided by then Chief Minister Shettar had on September 6, 2012 taken the decision to purchase the land.
Shettar, however, rejected the allegation saying that the land was purchased as per the rule.
Abraham has warned that he would to file a petition in the Karnataka Lokayukta if Siddaramaiah did not order the probe into the land deal.
"The Chief Minister has promised me of conducting a probe either by CID or Special Investigation Team (SIT),” Abraham told reporters after his meeting with the Chief Minister.
