Udupi, Sep 24: Corporation Bank Udupi Marathon 2006, a state-level marathon will be held as part of the Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Coorg district three-day athletic meet in the district. The marathon will be held on October 15, announced Udupi MLA K Raghupati Bhat on Saturday.

Bhat who is also the organizing committee chairman of the meet said that Kannada cine stars and sportspersons of international fame will participate in the marathon.

From Manipal End Point at 6 pm on Oct 15, the marathon will pass through Tiger Circle, Udupi City and reach Malpe via taluk office Kinnimulky, Kediyoor and will return to Ajjarkad stadium.

The event is sponsored by Corporation Bank and will be inaugurated by the bank chairman.

Around 5,000 people are expected to participate in the 21.5 kms marathon, Bhat informed.

The first place winner of the marathon will be given a cash prize of Rs 15,000 and a citation, while the second prize and third prize winners will be given Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.
