Madrid, Sep 15 (IANS): The Santiago Bernabeu rang out with boos as Real Madrid slumped to another defeat, highlighting the chaos that is now surrounding expensively-assembled Carlo Ancelotti's side after three games of the Spanish Primera Liga season.

Goals from Tiago Cardoso and Arda Turan Sunday gave Atletico Madrid their third win at their arch rivals' home, the Bernabeu, in three years to leave the hosts with just three points and two defeats from their first three matches of the season, reports Xinhua.

If we take into consideration the Spanish Supercup, where Atletico also defeated their neighbours, and the European Supercup where Real beat Sevilla, the Champions League holders have won just two from six competitive matches, which came on the back of a pre-season which also saw them fall to four defeats.

Worryingly for Real Madrid coach, Ancelotti, his side continue to commit serious defensive errors, while the departure of Angel di Maria and Xabi Alonso has ripped both balance and pace from the side.

Speaking after the defeat Sunday, Ancelotti said his side was, "paying for small errors, and had to react," and he will have the chance to do that when Real Madrid face Basel in the Champions League Tuesday night.

One change he may have to make is replacing Iker Casillas in goal with Keylor Navas after the veteran captain was the focus of all of the criticism from the fans in the ground, although in fairness he was helpless in both of Atletico's goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo had got Real Madrid back into the match from the penalty spot after drawing contact from Guillerme Siquiera after 25 minutes.

The weekend started with Neymar coming off the bench to give Barcelona a 2-0 win at home to Athletic Club Bilbao, who had looked as if they could hold on for a brave point.

Barca had wasted several chances before the Brazilian accepted a pass from Leo Messi to open the scoring with around 11 minutes remaining and he doubled the lead after another Messi pass five minutes later.

Meanwhile, Malaga spurned a host of chances in their 0-0 at home to Levante, while a late own goal from Celta defender Jonny saw Real Sociedad sneak a 2-2 draw away to Celta Vigo.

Sunday kicked off with Elche winning 3-2 away to Rayo Vallecano, who were made to pay for some basic defensive lapses by goals from Edu Alcabar, Jonathas and Pedro Mosquera and who remain without a win this season.

The weekend ended Sunday night with a 0-0 draw between Granada and Villarreal and the round of matches ends Monday as newly promoted Eibar play at home to Deportivo la Coruna.
