Cops Raid Shop Selling Pirated CDs

The Udupi Police on Sunday raided a shop selling pirated CD`s and DVD`s.

Two police teams led by DCIB inspector C E Thimmaiah and Udupi Town Law and Order Sub-Inspector Jayant M conducted the raids.

The raids were conducted at Asma Cassette Centre, Rachana Cassette Centre and also street cassette vendors in Udupi city.

In this regard a case has been registered in under the Indian Copyright Act and the case is under investigation.

A close watch is kept on the sale of duplicate CDs in the district.

Theft case reported in Brahmavar

Thieves entered the Panjurli Temple of Thenku-Mane located at Handadi village and have stolen panchaloha idols. According to police sources, the culprits gained entry into the Temple by breaking open the door lock.

In this connection a theft case has been registered in Brahmavar police station.

Sandalwood case accused nabbed in Hiriyadka

Akbar Ali one of the accused in a sandalwood theft case registered in Hiriyadka police station was nabbed by the police recently.

The team led by Mahesh Prasad arrested the absconding Akbar near Bhaskarnagar bus stop, Uchilla here. Two others accused in the same case were arrested earlier.
