Mangalore, Sep 14: Colourful celebrations depicting the tradition and rich culture of Kerala marked Onam festivities at TMA Pai Convention Centre here on Sunday September 14. The celebration, organized by Kerala Samajam, was inaugurated by minister for energy D K Shivakumar.

In Kerala you can see temples, churches and mosques existing in close proximities. No major communal clashes are ever reported from anywhere. All live in peace and harmony," he added

A very happy Onam dear Keralities.
Very beautiful ladies have their origin in Kerala. Can't say anything about the males though. They (the males) are very good at
drumming, beating 'Chande's' and all that stuff. All which exercises the body only. O.K.
May God bless all during this auspicious occasion.

Keralites are always keep up their own tradition and culture wherever they go, they only talk their own mother tongue language, which is Malayalam .... no matter.. how qualified or how rich they are.
where as.. our konkani mangalorens forget their own mother tongue konkani and get into English language very quickly once they land up on Maratawada-Mumbai, most of them shy to talk Konkani.. what kind of culture is this?

I have great regard and admiration for people from Kerala. They have a tradition and culture of their own. Over the years the keralites have emerged as pioneers in education and literature. You see them all over the world.

My wife and I have had the pleasure of having the services of two Kerala ladies from a Convent to care for our tiny children. I still recall with nostalgia their nursery rhymes 'KARIANDA MOLE KARIANDA - VERNGE PO MOLE VERNGE PO. .. meaning do not cry darling do not cry - sleep darling sleep.

They cared for the children tenderly and stayed with them until they got settled. Such dedication is seldom seen anywhere else.

Indeed Kerala has a great tradition and history behind it. The State has emerged over the years for literacy which is the highest in India.

I have great regard and admiration for Keralites. My children were brought up by two very dedicated individuals from Chalakudi in Kerala. The very first words they uttered were in Malayalam. I still recall with great nostalgia the nursery rhymes the persons used to sing for my children - KARIYANDA MOLE KARIYANDA - VERNGE PO MOLE VERENGE PO meaning don not cry darling do not cry - sleep my darling sleep. My children in American do recall these rhymes with dedication and devotion.

Great to see the rich & cultural heritage of Kerala being displayed at Onam celebrations by the Kerala Samajam, Mangalore chapter

Kerala Samajam is one of the foremost 'outside' state association formed in Namma Kudla & they do quite a lot of humanitarian work...Plus running an efficient school & ambulance services in Mangalore.

Best wishes to all office bearers & their family members on occassion of Onam! Great to see camaraderie between closely connected neighbours
