Dubai, Sep 13: The colourful extravaganza, titled 'Sandalwood to Bollywood',organized on the occasion of 22nd annual day of Dubai Devadiga Sangha (UAE) in association with Acme Building Materials Dubai, succeeded in taking the audience through a journey of thrill, entertainment and comedy, with the help of a concoction of dance, music and drama.

The programme was unveiled in front of a packed audience on Friday September 12 under the guidance of Acme Building Materials managing director and multi-talented personality, Harish Sherigar. Well-known singers held the people spellbound through melodious rendering of hit songs at the programme organized at Sheikh Rashid auditorium of Indian High School Dubai.

The programme was given an auspicious beginning in Hindu tradition, in the form of lighting of lamps by five women including Sharmila Sherigar, wife of Harish Sherigar. Narendra Savalani, Michael D'Souza, Herman Louis of Radio Spice, leaders of Devadiga community like Vaman Maroli, Dharmapal Devadiga, Anand Devadiga, Narayan Devadiga, Ramesh Devadiga and Dinesh Devadiga were present on the occasion.

Delightful music in the form of Hindi, Kannada, Tulu, and Konkani songs rendered by renowned playback singers, Sinchan Dixit, Ravi Muroor Bangalore, Ranjan Das Mangalore, Harish Sherigar, Akshata Rao, Melvyn D'Souza, Joshal Speeda D'Souza, Vijay Satya Bhat, and Prema D'Souza, succeeded in making the audience bathe in an environment filled with ecstasy.

The musical duel (Jugalbandi) between singers, Ravi Muroor and Harish Sherigar thrilled the gathering. The duo, which presented popular Kannada songs of the yesteryears with aplomb came in for enthusiastic applause. While Hindi songs rendered by Sinchan Dixit, Ranjan Das and Askahata Rao made the people happy and contented, Tulu song, 'Yekka Sakka Yekka Sakka' sung by Prema D'Souza,, and Konkani song presented by Melvyn D'Souza and Joshan Speeda D'Souza brought the beauty of their hometown before the eyes of the crowd that was predominantly made up of people from coastal Karnataka.

While the talent of the singers attracted whistles and applause from the audience, several who could not remain seated in their chairs got up and gyrated to these songs. The music directed by music director, Rajgopal, gave goosebumps to several. The attractive style of presentation by host, Madhu Mailankody, came in for profuse appreciation.

The Tulu comedy presented by Gammat troue in Dubai was well-received. The artistes, who presented two skits, proved their capacity in acting out hilarious pieces. Another Tulu comic programme in which Chidananda Poojary, Sandeep Kumar Devadiga, Rajesh Kuthar, Ramesh Suvarna, Vishwanath Shetty, Girish Narayan, Sunil, Prakash, Jesh Bayar etc added lustre to the programme, 'Sandalwood to Bollywood'.

The dances presented by Pranava Dance Group led by Prasanna and another led by Vijay too proved to be excellent.

WELL ORGANIZED PROGRAM AND WE ENJOYED IT. BUT BEGINNING WAS DELAYED AND MOST OF THE AUDIENCE LEFT BY 10:00 PM. VERY FEW PEOPLE WERE THERE TILL END OF THE PROGRAM. I LIKE THE SONG BY MR.HARISH SHERIGAR FROM THE MOVIE "BABRUVAHANA". RAVI MUROOR, SINCHAN DIXIT'S PERFORMANCE WAS ALSO GOOD. GAMMAT KALAVIDR'S TULU SKITS WERE GOOD BUT LITTLE LENGTHY, SO FULL AUDIENCE COULD NOT ENJOYED WITH MUSICAL PROGRAM DUE TO SHORTAGE OF TIME. OTHERWISE GOOD PROGRAM. THANKS & CONGRATS MR.HARISHANNA FOR ORGANIZING SUCH A SUCCESSFUL EVENT. KEEP IT UP.
