Bangalore, Sep 13 (DHNS): Over two weeks after a case of rape and cheating was registered against him at the RT Nagar police station, Karthik Gowda, son of Railway Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, appeared before the investigation officer early on Friday.
A senior police officer said that Karthik appeared before the investigation officer in connection with the case filed by small-time Kannada film actor Mythriya Gowda. He appeared before the officer at 6.30 am and was taken to Ambedkar Medical College and Hospital for medical examination as he has been accused of raping the actor.
Thereafter, Karthik was interrogated at the City police’s interrogation centre in Madiwala. The interrogation went on till evening. Questions were asked based on the complainant’s statements. If needed, he will be interrogated further, the police said.
Karthik has denied the accusations. He told the police that he knew Mythriya through common friends and had met her a couple of times in some parties. There is no question of rape or marriage, and the complaint is a pre-planned act to tarnish his father’s reputation, he is said to have told the officer.
Mythriya had filed a complaint against Karthik on August 27. Subsequently, the police registered a case under Sections 376 (rape) and 420 (cheating) of the IPC. She had lodged a complaint following media reports that he got engaged to another girl at Kushalnagar in Kodagu district.
Karthik applied for anticipatory bail which the 8th City Civil and Session court judge G B Mudigowder granted him last Monday.
