Karkala, Sep 12: In a swift operation, the policemen from here succeeded in taking into custody a person who has been accused of raping a girl, within hours of the incident.

The accused in this incident has been identified as Pradeep (26) from Kalya village, who works for a bar located at Udupi bypass road.

A 20-year-old girl had complained to the local police that she was walking home at around 6 pm on September 10 in Kalya village by walk after leaving her workplace at the close of work hours, when the accused dragged her away and raped her in a deserted spot. The accused then went away, and reported for duty at the bar where he works as if nothing had happened.

The victim filed a police complaint at about 10 pm the same day. Assistant superintendent of police, Annamalai, immediately led a team of policemen that raided the bar where the accused works, and took him into custody. This prompt action of the police has come in for appreciation.

In the meanwhile, the accused, during his questioning, confessed that he had tried to rape a girl from the same area sometime back. The minor girl, studying in a school, was returning home when he had pulled her by hand. The girl had succeeded in wriggling out of his grip and running away to safety then.

The girl, who had dithered from filing a complaint then, filed a complaint about the incident after the accused was arrested. He was produced in court on Friday September 12 and remanded in judicial custody.

A MISSION WELL ACCOMPLISHED. It is good to know that we have a fine team of Police Officers who are alert and prompt resulting in arrests like these.

Congrats to Annamalai the A.S.P. for springing into action promptly resulting in the arrest of the culprit.

Hope the accused - if found guilty is suitably punished and made an example to others.

People follow their leader. It is so also in the department. We are fortunate in having the services of one of the best Police Superintendents in Mr. Sharanappa who has recently taken over as the S.P. of the district. Nothing escapes his alert eye and his team of dedicated policemen who follow his example.

Citizen of Rape Public of India. No point in Nabbing him he will get away with bail. Case is successful only if he gets real punishment for his crime. Police department hard work may go in vain.

great work by the police dept.
try and see that he doesn't get away easily without a severe punishment. he shouldn't even dream of this cruel act again.the kind of punishment given should be such the it installs fear in the minds of those who think to do it.

ONE CAPITAL PUNISHMENT, for any RAPE/MURDER kind of crime!!! thats all.... No mercy for the person, who violates a woman's modesty! I dont know why in India, such crimes, off late are not taken seriously! when we have epics written( MAHABHARAT, RAMAYAN,) where crime on women, triggered the entire epic!

Just keep the women's rights, human rights and other NGOs out! they spoil the game.

These monsters are a menace to the society. It has to be eradicated very fast. The police prompt action is appreciated but that prompt action should be followed by pro-activeness in filing the case in the court and immediate judgement. There is no place for rapists, molesters and teasers in this society. It is time that women are respected as god had said "I cannot be everywhere so I have created women to take my place to spread to meaning of goodness, love, peace, care and concern for all humankind".
