Kundapur, Sep 12: In a case of suspected murder, a man was found dead at his residence at Bavikatte, Gangolli here on Friday September 12.
The deceased has been identified as Shekar (38), a resident of Janata Colony in Bavikatte.
It is said that Shekar, a coolie worker, had two wives. His first wife, Sujata, with whom he has a son and two daughters, is separated and has been living at Naikanakatte with her children for the last five or six years.
His second wife, Kalpana, and their two sons and a daughter stayed with him at Bavikatte.
Sources said that on the night of Thursday September 11, Shekar came home drunk and picked a quarrel with Kalpana. It is said that he was seriously injured on the head during the fight and succumbed soon after.
However, the family has denied that there was any quarrel, and claimed that Shekar died after he suffered a fall.
The police, however, are not ruling out the possibility of a murder. The elder son from his second wife, identified as Jayasuriya (17), has been taken for questioning, as he was present at the spot when the quarrel took place.
Gangolli police arrived at the spot and registered a case. Further investigations are on.
The house has been sealed as canine squad is expected to be brought on Saturday September 13.
