Rio de Janeiro, Sep 11 (IANS) Brazil coach Dunga has left open the possibility of recalling Maicon after the defender was cut from the squad for disciplinary reasons.
The 33-year-old was sent home after reportedly returning to the team hotel at 7 a.m. following Brazil's 1-0 victory over Colombia in Miami Friday, reported Xinhua.
"I respect Maicon and the doors are not closed to any player," Dunga told reporters.
"It hurts to take away an opportunity like this from a player, but sometimes things like this can happen. I want to make sure that I do what is best for the national team.
"I'm in command and I have to make decisions. But we can't make anything definite, I'm not here to judge anybody, we all get a second chance."
Maicon was replaced in Brazil's squad by Porto defender Danilo, who started at right-back in the Selecao's 1-0 victory over Ecuador in New Jersey Tuesday.
The Roma veteran, capped 76 times for Brazil, is yet to comment on the incident.
