Mangalore, Sep 19: It is another effort to highlight the difficulties faced by people owing to the pathetic condition of roads in the district. Though several protests have already been staged in the last couple of months, none seems to have heard the people. The protest has become a cry in the desert.
Accordingly, the citizens are now gearing up for one more and perhaps a last attempt to alert the concerned persons. District Labours’ Commission, Bus Employees Association, Autorickshaw Associations and unions will stage protest on Wednesday September 20 morning. The protestors will go on foot upto Mulki.
The protest will be led by DCC vice-president Ivan D'Souza. The Canara Bus Owners' Association too has extended its support to the protest. Hence there will not be buses plying on the road on Wednesday. Bus driver, conductors and cleaners are expected join the agitators.
The procession will start at Kottara Chowki at 9.30 am on Wednesday and would culminate at Mulki. Protests meets and rallies have been organized at Kottara Chowki, Kulur, Panambur, Bykampady, Kulai, Honnakatte, Hosbettu, Suratkal, Mukka and Haleangadi. Locals will be given an opportunity to deliver speeches during the protest meet.
